Abstract BETWEEEN THE GASEOUS MIXTURE AND THE REFERENCE ATMOSPHERE, HERE THE EXTERNAL ATMOSPHERE, THERE IS PROVIDED A PROTECTING ATMOSPHERE OF COMPOSITION CLOSE TO THAT OF THE GASEOUS MIXTURE. USE IS MADE OF THE IONIC CONDUCTIVE PRPROPERTIES OF SOLID ELECTROLYTES. THE INVENTION IS ESPECIALLY USEFUL FOR OXYGEN PUMPS AND GAUGES AND ENABLES INTERFERING LEAKAGES DUE TO THE PHYSICAL PERMEABILITY OF THE SOLID ELECTROLYTE AND ITS ELECTROCHEMICAL SEMIPERMEABILITY, TO BE ELIMINATED.
