Abstract

Abstract For microbiological and other laboratory work in which supporting elements carrying an active substance is brought into contact with a substrate there is provided a supporting element of tubular or other shape and adapted to be forced through the substrate to the bottom of the same and thereby wholly or partly to confine an area of the substrate. The element carries the active substance on the side facing the confined area and isolates it from the substrate on the opposite side. The supporting element may comprise magnetic material and be pulled to the bottom of the substrate by magnetic force.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 15
Claim 1
Independent Claim 26 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said active substance is in a lining of solid material on said wall on said one side thereof.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 49 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the active substance is a liquid, the method further comprising discharging the active substance from the body substantially along the entire depth of the wall sO that the active substance can diffuse into said substrate along the depth of the wall.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 38 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein a plurality of bodies is used and comprising forcing said bodies down into the substrate to the bottom thereof, each body being associated with at least one respective active substance.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 19 words
A method as claimed in claim 4 comprising graduating the concentration of the active substance in plurality of bodies.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 19 words
A method as claimed in claim 4 comprising joining said bodies to force the same into the substrate simultaneously.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 29 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said body contains a plurality of active substances which are introduced into said substrate from said wall in separate regions thereof.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 32 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 comprising incorporating magnetizable material in said carrying body, and forcing the carrying body into the substrate by applying an external magnetic force to said body.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 26 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 comprising photometrically analyzing said confined area to determine the extent of the reactivity between the agent and active substance.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 42 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 comprising effecting at least one secondary application of at least one different active substance to the substrate subsequent to the time after the first substance and agent have been brought into contact with one another.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 30 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said area is confined by said wall so as to be completely enclosed thereby in a section taken perpendicular to said wall.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 27 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the carrying body is forced into the substrate with its wall substantially perpendicular to the surface of the substrate.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 22 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said wall is formed with a lower edge which extends substantially in a plane.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 33 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said wall is formed with a height sufficient to extend above the surface of the substrate when the body is forced to the bottom thereof.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 32 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the lower edge of said carrying body forms a seal with said container when the body is forced to the bottom of the substrate.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 28 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the active substance is discharged from said wall along the entire depth of penetration of the wall into the substrate.
