Abstract

Abstract Providing an imaged member comprising a layer of softenable material and migration material selectively distributed in depth in said softenable material in first image configuration and comprising in addition to said first image pattern of migration material a background of substantial amounts of migration material in said softenable material but spaced apart, in depth, from said first image pattern; and removing said background.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 25 words
An imaging method according to claim 1 wherein said background is an image pattern of migration material complementary to said image configuration of migration material.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 24 words
An imaging method according to claim 2 wherein said background is relatively unmigrated compared to the migration of said image configuration of migration material.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 23 words
An imaging method according to claim 1 wherein said image configuration of migration material is contiguous to a substrate for said softenable layer.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 38 words
An imaging method according to claim 1 wherein said background of migration material is removed by applying a liquid solvent for said softenable material to said imaged member to remove said background and adjacent portions of softenable material.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 59 words
An imaging method according to claim 5 wherein said softenable layer is on a substrate, said substrate relatively closer to said image pattern rather than said background of migration material and wherein applying said liquid solvent removes the softenable layer material and the background of migration material to selectively deposit said image configuration of migration material on said substrate.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 24 words
An imaging method according to claim 4 wherein said complementary background image pattern is contiguous to the surface of but contacting said softenable layer.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 22 words
An imaging method according to claim 1 wherein said layer of softenable material is between about one-half to about 16 microns thick.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 24 words
An imaging method according to claim 8 wherein said migration material comprises particles of an average particle size not greater than about 2 microns.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 12 words
An imaging method according to claim 9 wherein said particles are photoconductive.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 21 words
An imaging method according to claim 5 wherein said liquid solvent is applied by immersing said image member in said liquid.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 22 words
An imaging method according to claim 2 wherein said first image pattern and said background pattern of migration material are different colors.
