Abstract A METHOD OF REGENERATING A CHELATE RESIN HAVING MERCURY ADSORBED THERETO, WHICH COMPRISES CONTACTING THE RESIN WITH A SOLUTION OF A SULFIDE OF AN ALKALI METAL, BARIUM OR AMMONIUM HAVING A PH OF AT LEAST 11.0, PREFERABLY AT LEAST 13.0, TO THEREBY LIBERATE THE MERCURY FROM THE CHELATE RESIN.
