Abstract WHEN A LIQUID CONTAINING CHARGE PARTICLES, SUCH AS IONS, ELECTROLYTES, FREE RADICALS AND COLLOIDS OR/AND MOLECULES HAVING POLAR OR/AND POLARIZABLE PROPERTIES IS BROUGHT INTO CONTACT WITH AN ELECTROSTATICALLY CHARGED SURFACE, A DOUBLE LAYER OF SAID CHARGED PARTICLES OR/AND SAID MOLECULES MAY BE FORMED AT SAID SURFACE. SEPARATION OF SAID CHARGE PARTICLES OR/AND SAID MOLECULES FROM SAID LIQUID CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED IF SAID LIQUID IN THE BULK IS REPLACED FROM SAID ELECTROSTATICALLY CHARGED SURFACE, AFTER THE CONTACTING.
