Abstract A PROCESS FOR TREATING THE SUBSTRATE OF A THIN MAGNETIC FILM TO OBTAIN A SURFACE STATE WHICH REDUCES THE MAGNETIC ANGULAR DISPERSION OF THE FILM, WHEREIN, PRIOR TO BEING COATED WITH THE MAGNETIC FILM, THE SUBSTRATE IS IMMERSED IN AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION OF PALLADIUM CHLORIDE AND DISSOLVED HYDROGEN CHLORIDE GAS.
