Abstract

Abstract A toothed exciter wheel is rotatably driven continuously in close proximity to a toothed speed reference wheel mounted on a rotatably driven power shaft, the system having a first sensor to sense the algebraic sum of the speeds of the two wheels, a second sensor to sense the speed of the exciter wheel and a circuit arrangement that compares the output signals of the two sensors and provides an indication on a readout device of the speed and direction of rotation of the power shaft.
