Abstract

Abstract An insulated staple is formed by a U-shaped body member and a piece of flexible, plastic tubing bent in a U-shaped configuration and installed on the body member. The plastic tubing is cut along a longitudinal wall portion to form a longitudinally extending opening at the central region of the tubing. The insulated staple is then assembled by inserting the opposed and parallel legs of the body member through the longitudinal opening and out through the axial ends of the tubing so that the body member is lined along its inner periphery between the end portions of the tubing mounted on the opposed and parallel legs. The method for making the insulated staple comprises cutting the longitudinal opening in the tube, bending the tube in a U-shaped configuration and inserting the legs of the body member through the axial ends of the tubing so that the pointed tips are exposed and the inner periphery of the staple is lined between the end portions of the tubing on the parallel legs.

A staple for anchoring objects to a base comprising: a generally U-shaped body member having substantially parallel legs, each leg being adapted for penetrating a base and a connecting bridge section joining the legs; and a section of nonmetallic flexible tubing bent in a U-shaped configuration and fitted on the U-shaped body member with opposite end portions of the tubing being positioned coaxially on the respective legs of the body member, completely encircling the the portions of the respective legs adjacent the bridge section and exposing the ends thereof, the section of tubing having an intermediate portion connecting the end portions and extending along the bridge section to line a substantial part of the inner periphery of the U-shaped body member.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 51 words
A stAple for anchoring as defined in claim 1 wherein the intermediate portion of the section of non-metallic tubing contains a longitudinally extending opening and the section of tubing is positioned on the body member with the opening exposing the bridge section along the outer periphery of the U-shaped body member.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 29 words
A staple for anchoring as defined in claim 2 wherein the section of tubing containing the longitudinally extending opening partially envelops the bridge section of the U-shaped body member.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 41 words
A staple for anchoring as defined in claim 1 wherein the intermediate portion of the section of tubing contains an opening extending longitudinally along the bridge section and exposing the outer periphery of the U-shaped body member between the parallel legs.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 57 words
A staple for anchoring as defined in claim 1 wherein the U-shaped body member is formed by a wire stock having a preselected diameter; and the section of non-metallic tubing has an inside diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the wire stock to permit the section of tubing to be slipped onto the U-shaped body member.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 33 words
A staple for anchoring as defined in claim 5 wherein the U-shaped body member is formed by a metallic wire stock; and the section of tubing is formed from an electrically nonconductive plastic.
Claim 8
