Abstract IRIDIUM IS SEPARATED FROM AQUEOUS MINERAL ACID SOLUTIONS CONTAINING IRIDIUM AND RHODIUM USING AN ORGANICALLY SUBSTITUTED AMMONIUM SALT AND EXTRACTING THE IRIDIUM COMPLEX THAT IS FORMED WITH AN ORGANIC SOLVENT, TRIALKYL AMMONIUM HALIDES ARE USED TO FORM THE IRIDIUM COMPLEX AND ALIPHATIC OR AROMATIC HALOGENATED HYDROCARBON, A CARBOXYLIC ACID ESTER OR A SLIGHTLY WATER-SOLUBLE ALCOHOL ARE USED TO EXTRACT THE IRIDIUM COMPLEX.
