Abstract
Abstract A membrane comprising a film of synthetic resin in which a piece of wire gauze is embedded. The apertures of the piece of wire gauze accommodate grains which protrude through the surface on one or both sides of the film. Such a membrane may be used as a partition between two compartments. Dependent on the properties of the grains, molecules, ions and/or electrons may be transported selectively from one compartment to the other.
