Abstract THE REACTION PRODUCT OF HYDROCARBYL-SUBSTITUTED SUCCINIC ACID WITH 5- AND 6-MEMBERED RING N-HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUNDS IS FOUND TO BE AN EFFECTIVE RUST INHIBITOR. THE HYDROCARBYL RADICAL CONTAINS LESS THAN 30 CARBON ATOMS. THE N-HETEROCYCLES ARE EXEMPLIFIED BY PYRROLIDINE, 2-AMINOTHIAZOLE, PIPERIDINE, 2-AMINOPYRIDINE AND 2-AMINO-4METHYL PYRIDINE.
