Abstract

Abstract Phosgene is reacted with a polyhydroxy containing compound to form a polychloroformate. The polychloroformate is then reacted with an acrylate containing one hydroxyl group in the presence of an acid acceptor to form the novel complex acrylate esters of this invention. The product is highly radiation-sensitive so that it may be polymerized by ionizing irradiation and forms a coating on plastic substrates which is hard, stain-resistant and abrasion-resistant.
