Abstract DIENES ARE SEPARATED FROM ORGANIC MIXTURES COMPRISING DIENE AND ALKENE HAVING ONE DOUBLE BOND BY CONTACTING THE MIXTURE AGAINST ONE SIDE OF A POLYMERIC PERMEATION MEMBRANE, THE MEMBRANE HAVING A TRANSITION METAL MOLECULARLY DISPERSED THEREIN AND WITHDRAWING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MEMBRANE A VAPOROUS MIXTURE HAVING INCREASED DIENE CONCENTRATION. EXEMPLARY OF THE ORGANIC MIXTURE IS A MIXTURE OF BUTADIENE AND BUTENE. EXEMPLARY OF TRANSITION METAL IS SILVER AS ELEMENTAL SILVER AND AS SILVER TETRAFLUOROBORATE.
