Abstract

Abstract A fatliquor composition useful for leather treatment comprises a mixture of alkenyl substituted succinic acid or succinic acid anhydride, sulfated fatty oil, and an amine or amide. The leather is treated with an aqueous emulsion of the fatliquor composition and then with an aqueous solution of the chromium coordination complex of perfluoroalkyl-containing carboxylic acid to provide a soil and water-repellent leather that is resistant to loss of lubricity when drycleaned.
