Abstract

Abstract A frequency selective level meter having automatic circuits for first adjusting an input attenuator to bring a signal level applied to a measuring circuit within its measuring range or ''''window,'''' and subsequently to adjust the input attenuator and a high gain amplifier in the path of the signal by equal amounts in order to reduce distortion generated as a result of nonlinearities of components operated on by the signal. Such distortion is detected by switching simultaneously both input and output circuits of non-linear elements between two levels of gain or attenuation while keeping the overall gain of the circuit the same in both levels.
