Abstract
Abstract Corrosion of ferrous metals by corrosive acids at elevated temperatures is inhibited by adding to the corrosive acid a composition comprising effective amounts of at least one acetylenic alcohol, a quaternary ammonium compound and/or an amine, a surfactant, an organic solvent, and a formic acid compound selected from the group consisting of formate esters of the structure:
