Abstract

Abstract The present invention concerns methods and apparatus for editing information and involves procedures for editing of both audio and typed (digital) information. The system incorporates a dictation machine capable of storing sentences and paragraphs in assigned areas on a record medium together with address information indicative of the preferred sequence of playback of such information. The system further includes a transcribing unit and a typing station having facilities for recording and playing back digital signals representative of typed copy and further having provision for storing address information on magnetic card media indicative of locations of sentences on the typed copy which is in the preferred sequence as actually typed. Several sequences may be followed in achieving a final version of the typed copy.
