Abstract GLYCERINE IS PRODUCED BY REACTING ALLYL ACETATE WITH AQUEOUS PERACETIC ACID. THE MONOACETIN FORMED IS CONVERTED TO GLYCERINE BY ALCOHOLYSIS OR AQUEOUS SAPONIFICATION AFTER REMOVAL OF UNEACTED ALLYL ACETATE, CETIC ACID AND WATER.
