Abstract
Abstract An improved electrolyte for use in the electrodeposition of aluminum or an alloy thereof as a coating on an electrically conducting preferably metallic substrate which electrolyte comprises an aluminum halide, in particular aluminum bromide, in solution in an organic solvent consisting of certain alkyl benzenes usually having at least two carbon atoms in the alkyl groups, alone, in admixture with each other or in admixture with other alkyl benzenes, benzene or halobenzenes.
