Abstract

Abstract A granular detergent composition containing (a) an organic detergent, (b) an alkaline builder, (c) glucose polymers with an Alpha -1,4 main linkage, (d) a compound of the general formula R1 -(CHOH)n-Y, wherein Y represents a salt or an ester radical derived from a carboxylic radical, n is 3 or 4, and R1 is CH2OH or CHO, and (e) an Alpha -amylase. The glucose polymers and the compound of the general formula R1(CHOH)n-Y protects the Alpha amylase against denaturation and degradation.
