Claim 1
Independent Claim
268 words
An electrical connector wire-wrap assembly comprising a generally flat board of dielectric material having upper and lower sides and a plurality of apertures extending therethrough in a high density pattern, at least one high contact density connector mounted on the upper side of the board for engagement above the board with a mating connector member, said connector comprising a plurality of small, closely-spaced metallic contacts of thin sheet metal, an insulating housing in which the contacts are mounted, and a metallic outer shell extending laterally around the housing and in which the housing is mounted, the outer shell including sidewalls preventing eLectrical access to the contacts on the upper side of the board when said connector and connector member are mated, the contacts including thin tail sections of small cross-sectional area extending rearwardly beyond the housing in said high density pattern into said apertures with each of said tail sections being disposed in one of said apertures and thereby insulatively separated from adjacent tail sections, a plurality of elongated, rigid metallic terminal posts mounted intermediate their ends in the board and having portions extending sufficiently beyond said upper and lower sides to recive a plurality of wire-wrapped conductors on each of said portions, each of said terminal posts having four exposed, sharp longitudinal edges for wire wrapping and a crosssectional area greater than that of said tail section, a plurality of conductive circuit paths on the lower side of the board extending between said tail sections and terminal posts, and soldered thereto for electrical interconnection, and means on said board for mounting said board to an external housing.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
55 words
The electrical assembly of claim 1 wherein the connector is mounted centrally on the upper side of the board, the plurality of terminal posts are mounted along each of the two longitudinal sides of the board in a low density configuration and each of the terminal posts is electrically connected to one of the contacts.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
38 words
The electrical assembly of claim 2 wherein the electrical path is a pattern of highly conductive metal on the lower side of the board and fused solder bridges interconnecting the pattern with the tail sections and terminal posts.
