Abstract

Abstract A method for improving the yield of 7-(D-5-amino-5carboxylvaleramido)-3-(carbamoyloxymethyl)-7-methoxy-3-cephem -4carboxylic acid by adding to fermentation media an additive selected from glycine, L-phenylalanine, a carbamate or an amide, or combinations thereof. The product is a new antibiotic produced from a new strain of Streptomyces; it exhibits activity against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.
