Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim
13 words
A method of claim 1 wherein the magnetic material is plates or flakes.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
35 words
A method of claim 1 wherein the magnetic material is fiber which is introduced into the magnetic field in amount controlled to obtain the spatial order and the ordered material is transferred to a matrix.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
21 words
A method of claim 3 wherein the magnetic material is spread upon a surface prior to introduction to the magnetic field.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
14 words
A method of claim 3 wherein the matrix material is sulfur vulcanizable diene rubber.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
13 words
A method of claim 5 wherein the composite is heated to effect vulcanization.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
17 words
A method of claim 3 wherein the magnetic material is introduced to a plurality of magnetic fields.
Claim 7
Independent Claim
64 words
A method for producing reinforced composites which comprises introducing an amount of reinforcing magnetic fiber spread upon a surface to a plurality of magnetic fields to position the fiber, transferring the fiber out of the magnetic fields to a matrix surface in parallel relationship to the surface and maintaining the spatial position of the ordered fiber essentially by impressing the fiber into the matrix.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
23 words
A method of claim 8 wherein the fiber length is one-sixteenth to 2 inches and the fiber diameter is less than 0.05 inches.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
24 words
A method of claim 8 wherein the fiber is selected from the group consisting of iron, steel, stainless steel, brass-plated steel or aluminum-steel alloy.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
13 words
A method of claim 8 wherein the fiber is essentially in a monolayer.
