Abstract

Abstract An actuator for moving two elements with respect to one another having structural redundancy so as to maintain the actuator in an operable condition notwithstanding actuator component failures. Two drive mechanisms each connected to an element are mounted on a common track so each is movable with respect to the track. The drive mechanisms are connected to a common shaft which will transmit power from one mechanism to the other in the event of a power loss or other failure in one of the mechanisms.
