Abstract WATER SOLUBLE PURE AESCIN HAVING A MELTING POINT OF 218* C. IS OBTAINED BY DISSOLVING A DRY EXTRACT OF HORSE CHESTNUT SEEDS IN A SINGLE PHASE MIXTURE OF N-PROPANOL, ETHYL ACETATE AND WATER WHICH IS COLD-SATURATED WITH BORAX, THEN BRINGING THE SOLUTION INTO CONTACT WITH ACID ACTIVATED ALUMINIUM OXIDE, AND THEN FRACTIONALLY ELUTING WITH A SOLVENT MIXTURE OF N-PROPANOL, ETHYL ACETATE AND WATER.
