Abstract

Abstract Olefinic hydrocarbons are subjected to a dismutation process by treatment with a catalyst comprising a metal oxyhalide in which the metal is present in an intermediate valence state to form dissimilar olefins which contain one or more carbon atoms less and one or more carbon atoms more than the original olefinic hydrocarbon.
