Abstract
Abstract A molten sheet finishing roll has a rigid, metal inner core, a layer of resilient material about the periphery of the core, and a relatively thin, hard, machinable, yet flexible, metal shell encasing the resilient layer which permits the roll to compensate for deviations from uniform thickness of the sheet material such that continuous contact is maintained between the surface of the sheet material and the outer surface of the shell, resulting in a uniform finish being impressed into the sheet material.
