Abstract A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SILICON CARBIDE BY DECOMPOSITION OF A GAS MIXTURE CONTAINING A HYDROCARBON COMPOUND, E.G. PROPANE, A SILANE, E.G. SIH4, A CARRIER GAS, E.G. HYDROGEN, AND HYDROGEN CHLORIDE. THE CONCENTRATION OF SILICON ATOMS IN THE MIXTURE IS CHOSEN TO BE BETWEEN 10 TO 50% OF THE CONCENTRATION OF THE CARBON ATOMS.
