Abstract
Abstract Method of preparing temperature resistant exhaust oxidation catalysts suitable for use in land vehicle exhaust systems comprising a porous ceramic base impregnated with suitable oxidizing agents and the resulting catalysts. The porous ceramic base is prepared from a ceramic powder filled, plasticized polyolefin.

The process according to claim 1 wherein said polyolefin is selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, copolymers of polyethylene, and polypropylene, the plasticizer is mineral oil and the plasticizer is removed by contacting the fused structure with hexane.

The process according to claim 1 wherein the soluble metal salts include salts selected from the group consisting of copper, chromium, manganese, and palladium salts and mixtures thereof.

The process according to claim 3 wherein the solutions contain a sufficient quantity of metal salts to prepare a catalyst containing about 4 to 10 percent CuO, about 4 percent Cr2O3, 0 to 12 percent MnO2 and 0.02 percent Pd.
