Abstract
Abstract A visual data handling system incorporating a visual display device to provide an illuminated display of data. A print-through device utilizing a matrix of light conducting elements transfers the illuminated display of data to a light responsive type printer. This illumination transfer can be selectively interrupted by a turn-off mechanism, which does this by maneuvering the print-through device. Also, the light conducting elements can incorporate lasing devices to intensify the illumination.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim
132 words
A print-through device for transferring an illumination pattern comprising a. a plurality of adjacent elongated light conducting elements having input and output ends and arranged in parallel alignment to transfer the illuminated pattern, each light conducting element being adapted to receive a portion of the illuminated pattern at its input end and project said portion at its output end and having a lasing device arranged therein, each lasing device being operative in response to illumination of the respective light conducting element to intensify the illumination, and b. means for moving said light conducting elements between one position in which the input ends of said light conducting elements can receive said illumination pattern from a source and another position in which the input ends of said light conduting element cannot receive said illumination.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
28 words
The print-through device as described in claim 1, wherein the light conducting elements each include fiber optic members and a non-light conducting jacket housing the fiber optic members.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
27 words
The invention of claim 1 wherein said moving means includes means to move said light conducting elements towards and away from said source of the illumination pattern.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
138 words
The invention of claim 3 further comprising a flexible sealing means for engaging said source of the illumination pattern to define a sealed space therebetween and a reservoir communicating with said sealing means containing a light absorbing fluid whereby movement of said light conducting elements away from said source of said illumination pattern creates a negative pressure differential to thereby cause the light absorbing fluid to flow from the reservoir into the sealed space and interrupt reception of said illumination pattern by the input ends of said light conducting elements and movement of said light conducting elements towards said source of said illumination pattern creates a positive pressure differential to thereby cause the light absorbing fluid to flow back to the reservoir to permit reception of said illumination pattern by the input ends of said light conducting elements.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
77 words
The invention according to claim 1 wherein said moving means is adapted to revolvably support said plurality of adjacent elongated light conducting elements for rotation about an axis substantially parallel to said light conducting elements between a position at which the input ends of said light conducting elements cannot receive said illumination pattern from said source and a position at which the input ends of said light conducting elements can receive said illumination pattern from said source.
