Abstract A METHOD OF REMOVING IODINE FROM A GASEOUS ATMOSPHERE IS PROVIDED WHICH COMPRISES CONTACTING SAID IODINECONTAINING ATMOSPHERE WITH A REFLUXING AQUEOUS SOLUTION WHICH IS AT LEAST 15.3 M IN NITRIC ACID UNDER SUCH CONDITIONS AS TO AVOID ADVERSE VOLATILIZATION OF IODINE.
