Abstract

Abstract An apparatus is provided for either heating or cooling the skin surface while simultaneously dispensing a liquid product thereon. The apparatus includes a rotatably mounted mass of thermal energy storage material having a hardened, curved heat transfer exterior to which a film of the liquid product adheres when the mass rotates. The mass and the skin surface engaged thereby have disparate temperatures, thus producing either a hot or cold sensation on the skin surface when the mass is in rolling contact therewith and the product is being dispensed thereon.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 142 words
An apparatus for dispensing a product in a liquid state onto a thermal sensitive surface, said apparatus comprising a receptacle for the product having means at one end thereof for dispensing a controlled amount of liquid product when said receptacle is manually manipulated, said dispensing means including a mass of thermal energy storage material having an inflexible curved heat transfer exterior aDapted to be in contact with the liquid product while the latter is being dispensed; and a storage unit for releasably accommodating said receptacle when the latter is in a non-dispensing position, said unit including a portion for resiliently engaging the dispensing end of the accommodated receptacle, heat-generating means on said unit and in heating relation with the exterior of said mass only when said receptacle is accommodated by said storage unit, and an adjustable means for energizing said heat-generating means.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 46 words
The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the dispensing mass is rotatably mounted on the dispensing end of said receptacle and the liquid product is dispensed only when the element is in rolling contact with the thermal sensitive surface and said receptacle is removed from said unit.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 70 words
The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said storage unit includes a base portion which subtends and supports the accommodated receptacle, said base portion being spaced beneath an upper portion on which said heat-generating means is mounted, said means having a surface thereof conforming substantially to the configuration of an exposed exterior portion of said mass and in resilient heat transfer engagement therewith when said receptacle is accommodated by said unit.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 36 words
The apparatus of claim 3 wherein said heat-generating means is electrically energized and is in contact with at least 30 percent of the exterior of said mass only when said receptacle is accommodated by said unit.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 23 words
The apparatus of claim 4 including a thermostat operatively connected to said heat-generating means to prevent generating of heat above a predetermined temperature.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 64 words
The apparatus of claim 1 including a second receptacle having means at one end thereof for controlled dispensing of a second liquid product in an unheated state, and said storage unit is provided with a second portion insulated from said first mentioned portion and adapted to resiliently engage the dispensing end of said second receptacle, only when the latter is in a non-dispensing position.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 35 words
The apparatus of claim 6 wherein said storage unit includes a base portion subtending and supporting said accommodated receptacles; said receptacles being disposed in spaced, upright, substantially parallel relation when accommodated by said storage unit.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 66 words
The apparatus of claim 6 wherein said second receptacle includes a rotating mass in contact with the second liquid product while the latter is being dispensed and said receptacle is removed from said storage unit and is in rolling contact with said thermal sensitive surface; the temperature of the rotating mass of the second receptacle being less than the temperature of the surface being contacted thereby.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 38 words
The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said mass is depressed by said storage unit portion when said receptacle is accommodated by said unit; said mass, when in said depressed state, closing off the dispensing end of said receptacle.
