Abstract
Abstract A piston ring assembly is comprised of a metal compression ring and an elastomeric polymeric expander ring engaging the inner diameter of the compression ring. The expander ring is made from a high temperature resistant elastomeric material which is deformed between the piston ring groove and the cast iron outer ring to form an oil seal and blow-by seal.
