Abstract

Abstract A valve including an outer casing having a pair of inlets, an outlet and a cup-shaped recess formed therein. A valve chamber cartridge is removably received in the recess, the cartridge including a body having a pair of end surfaces and a valve chamber formed in the body extending from one of the end surfaces. A pair of inlet passages are formed in the body each of which has one end communicating with the valve chamber and its other end communicating with an exterior surface of the cartridge body. Ports in the casing connect each of the inlet passages with one of the pair of inlets, and a slide valve member is received in the valve chamber for controlling communication between the pair of inlets and the outlet through the inlet passages.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 175 words
A valve comprising means defining an inlet and an outlet, a valve member for controlling communication between said inlet and said outlet; an operating member connected with said valve member, said operating member being selectively movable for adjusting said valve member; means defining a packing chamber surrounding a portion of said operating member and adapted to receive sealing material; a packing chamber adjustment member selectively movable to vary the volume of the packing chamber and thereby adjust the density of sealing material contained therein; and means for selectively engaging said operating member with said adjusting member to cause movement of the adjusting member in response to movement of said operating member, said last named means comprising a pin carried by said operating member for movement between a retracted position in which it is held out of engagement with said adjustment member during movement of the operating member, and an extended position in which it is engageable with the adjustment member during movement of the operating member to thereby vary the volume of the packing chamber.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 175 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 17 words
A valve as claimed in claim 1 wherein said operating member is rotatable in said packing chamber.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 26 words
A valve as claimed in claim 2 further including a disk non-rotatably carried by said operating member, and wherein said pin is mounted in said disk.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 53 words
A valve as claimed in claim 3 wherein said adjustment member is rotatable to vary the volume of the packing chamber and further including at least one slot in said adjustment member engageable by said pin in its extended position to cause the adjustment member to rotate with said disk and operating member.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 17 words
A valve as claimed in claim 4 further including means biasing said pin to its retracted position.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 30 words
A valve as claimed in claim 5 wherein said operating member is slidable relative to said disk along its axis of rotation for rotating and axially moving said valve member.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 41 words
A valve as claimed in claim 6 further including an operating handle connected with said operating member for selectively rotating said operating member as well as selectively slidably moving said operating member relative to said disk along its axis of rotation.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 45 words
A valve as claimed in claim 7 wherein said disk is formed with a diametrical slot receiving the end of said operating handle, said end being pivotally connected with said operating member about an axis transverse to the axis of rotation of said operating member.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 32 words
A valve as claimed in claim 8 wherein said disk is formed with a circumferential slot, and further including a fulcrum pin mounted in said handle and received in said circumferential slot.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 141 words
In a mixing valve having a valve member which reciprocates and turns, an actuator assembly for said valve member which comprises a valve operating link rod connected to the valve member, a spool member supporting said link rod for reciprocation and turning, a fulcrum supporting disk mounted on said spool member for turning about the axis of the link rod, an operating handle pivotally connected to said link rod to swing about an axis extending transversely of the link rod, second pivot means extending transversely of the handle parallel to the link rod pivot, and teeth on the fulcrum member extending on opposite sides of the second pIvot means, swinging of the handle about the second pivot means causing reciprocation of the link and valve member, the handle, fulcrum member and valve member swinging together about the axis of the link.
Claim 12
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 34 words
A mixing valve in accordance with claim 10 wherein the second pivot means is a pin rotatably mounted in the handle and head ends of the pin are substantially non-rotatably received between the teeth.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 94 words
A mixing valve in accordance with claim 10 wherein a packing box is mounted in the spool member surrounding the link, packing in the packing box forms a seal surrounding the link rod, a packing gland nut underlies the fulcrum disk and is threaded in the packing box to compress the packing, means is provided for releasably connecting the fulcrum disk and the packing gland nut and the fulcrum disk and the handle swing together around the axis of the link rod for turning the packing gland nut when connected to the fulcrum disk.
