Abstract
Abstract A tracer projectile having an ablative material attached to at least a portion of the exterior surface of the projectile body, such material preferably having a relatively low flash temperature whereby it is ignited by aerodynamic heating effects to produce an illumination during the projectile''s flight to a target. The ablative material preferably may be attached by means of a bonding agent having a low coefficient of thermal conductivity to provide a heat barrier between the ablative material and the projectile body.
