Abstract

Abstract A finely profiled copper electrode for electro-erosive boring having a multi-lobal cross-section of a plurality of radially extending arms having a thickness of less than about 80 microns and terminating within an outer circumference of less than about 600 microns, the electrode being formed by cold rolling a calibrated hard drawn copper wire with the ends of the arms being cut to size and shape. Such electrodes are especially useful in boring the openings in a nozzle plate for spinning profiled filaments of a fibrous polymer.
