Abstract
Abstract A trigger switch for portable tools such as circular saws and the like having a return-spring biased trigger that is actuated by the forefinger of the user to turn the tool on and upon release returns to off position under spring action. The trigger is provided with a built-in spring biased lock that automatically locks the trigger in its off position whenever the trigger returns thereto. A manual release button is arranged to be pressed by the thumb of the user to release the lock and allow reactuation of the trigger. Two versions of off lock are shown for in-line (linearly movable) trigger and a third version is shown for an overhanging (pivoted) trigger.
