Abstract
Abstract A self-supporting filter element is formed by heat sealing longitudinal edges of woven filter material to seam together a tubular sleeve. The sleeve is placed over a male mold core having a channel precisely aligned with the seam. The male core is enclosed by a female mold cavity having a groove also aligned with the sleeve seam. Plastic is then injected into the channels to form not only a supporting rib but a reinforcement of the filter sleeve at the seam.
