Claim 1
Independent Claim
185 words
A method of making a gas discharge display/memory panel comprising the steps of: providing a pair of rectangular flat glass plate support members, to each of said flat glass plate support members 1. applying a plurality of parallel conductors constituting a conductor array to each of said plate support member, and 2. applying and in situ curing a thin glass film on said conductor arrays, forming a glass spacer as an integral rib on one of said plate members in a rectangular shape to thereby define the boundary of a gas discharge chamber, orienting the other of said plates in a direction such that the parallel conductors thereon are transverse to the direction of the parallel conductors on said plate having to thereby form a cross conductor matrix with the crossings of the conductors locating specific discharge sites, fusing said integral rib to the other of said plate members to form a bakeable hermetic seal and constitute, with said film on said conductors, a thin gaseous discharge chamber, evacuating said thin gaseous discharge chamber, and filling the said chamber with a volume of ionizable gas.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
133 words
applying and in situ curing a thin glass film on said conductor arrays, forming a glass spacer as an integral rib on one of said plate members in a rectangular shape to thereby define the boundary of a gas discharge chamber, orienting the other of said plates in a direction such that the parallel conductors thereon are transverse to the direction of the parallel conductors on said plate having to thereby form a cross conductor matrix with the crossings of the conductors locating specific discharge sites, fusing said integral rib to the other of said plate members to form a bakeable hermetic seal and constitute, with said film on said conductors, a thin gaseous discharge chamber, evacuating said thin gaseous discharge chamber, and filling the said chamber with a volume of ionizable gas.
Claim 4
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
40 words
The method defined in claim 1 wherein said conductors are a metal selected from the group consisting essentially of copper, gold, silver and aluminum and wherein said thin glass films on each said plate consist essentially of a solder glass.
