Abstract The specification discloses the addition of 2, 4,4-trimethyl -3(3 -oxo -1- butenyl) -2-cyclohexen- -1- one; 3-(3 hydroxy -1butenyl) -2, 4, 4-trimethyl -2- cyclohexen -1- one; 3-(3hydroxy-1- butenyl)-2, 4, 4-trimethyl -2- cyclohexen -1- ol; and 2, 4, 4-trimethyl -3- (3- oxo-1- butenyl) -2- cyclohexen -1-ol to tobacco to enhance the flavor and/or aroma thereof.
