Abstract A CONTINUOUS SHEET FORMED BY FILTRATION OF PARTICLES IN SUSPENSION IN A LIQUID ON MOVING FILTER SCREEN SLOPING DOWNWARDLY IN ITS DIRECTION OF MOVEMENT. THE SLOPE OF THE SCREEN AND THE AMOUNT OF SPACE ABOVE THE SCREEN ARE SELECTED TO PROVIDE A PROGRESSIVE INCREASE IN THE PRESSURE ACTING ON THE FILTRATE TO GIVE A UNIFORM FILTRATE EXTRACTION ALONG THE LENGTH OF THE SCREEN.
