Abstract

Abstract Predetermined outer peripheral configuration of motor with spaced apart coolant passing openings therein may be augmented with adapter. Such may be clips fastened to the motor adjacent surface. Clips have resiliently movable elements that snap fit in motor structure openings so as to facilitate assembly and yet provide a reliable and stable arrangement. Clips resist undesirable distortion or deformation thereof during use and include offset stabilizing segments. Clips may be fabricated by stamping clip blanks from a strip of sheet material and then forming the stamped blanks to a desired clip configuration.

Claim 2
Dependent Claim 131 words
An assembly comprising a dynamoelectric machine and mounting adapter means; said dynamoelectric machine comprising a stationary structure having at least one stationary outer peripheral surface with a plurality of openings for the passage of coolant formed in such outer peripheral surface and a rotatable structure supported by the stationary structure; said mounting adapter means including at least one spacer clip leg positioned adjacent to a portion of the stationary peripheral surface and extending between at least two of the plurality of openings and means for preventing inadvertent movement of said at least one spacer clip leg away from the stationary structure, said means for preventing inadvertent movement comprising at least one dependent element retained in one of the openings for the passage of coolant formed in the stationary outer peripheral surface.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 72 words
The assembly of claim 1 wherein the mounting adapter means comprises a clip having at least three legs with a first leg interconnecting second and third legs; at least one of said legs spanning a predetermined portion of said stationary peripheral surface between two coolant openings formed in said surface; said clip including at least two dependent elements, with each of said at least two dependent elements extending into a coolant opening.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 48 words
The assembly of claim 1 wherein the adapter means includes means for stabilizing the at least one leg when it is compressed against the stationary peripheral surface; said stabilizing means comprising a segment of said at least one leg; said segment being formed as a laterally extending projection.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 105 words
An assembly comprising a dynamoelectric machine having a stationary outer peripheral surface with at least one opening formed in such outer peripheral surface and mounting adapter means; said mounting adapter means comprising a clip secured to and extending closely adjacent to a portion of the stationary outer peripheral surface with a snap fit and including at least two elements supported for at least limited movement relative to one another; at least one of said elements being disposed with a snap fit in said at least one opening formed in the stationary outer peripheral surface, thereby to prevent inadvertent disassembly of the clip and dynamoelectric machine.
Claim 6
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 64 words
The assembly of claim 4 wherein the clip includes at least one leg formed from sheet material and further includes stabilizIng means formed from a segment of said at least one leg; said stabilizing means increasing the resistance of said at least one leg to bending as a result of compressive forces applied to said at least one leg by a band type mount.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 62 words
The assembly of claim 4 wherein the clip includes a plurality of legs and is formed from sheet material, and wherein the clip includes at least one pair of elements depending from one of said legs; said at least one pair of elements having oppositely facing surfaces spaced apart a predetermined distance for trapping therebetween a span of said stationary peripheral surface.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 100 words
The dynamoelectric machine clip; said clip being generally C-shaped and having at least three sheet material legs, with at least one of the legs arranged for extending across a portion of an outer peripheral surface of the dynamoelectric machine and establishing a predetermined gap between a surface of the dynamoelectric machine having an opening therein, and an edge surface of said at least one of the legs; said clip further comprising means for insertion with a snap fit into at least one opening of a dynamoelectric machine surface to thereby hold said clip to the dynamoelectric machine outer peripheral surface.
