Abstract METHOD FOR MASKING THE CLOSURE ATTACHING PORTION OF A CONTAINER TO PREVENT THE COATING OF SAID CLOSURE ATTACHING PORTION WHILE PERMITTING THE SPREADING OF A COATING MATERIAL OVER THE REMAINING SURFACE OF THE CONTAINER. THE METHOD COMPRISES NESTING THE CLOSURE ATTACHING PORTION OF THE CONTAINER INTO A MASKING CHUCK, ROTATING THE CHUCK ABOUT ITS VERTICAL AXIS AND LATERALLY MOVING THE CHUCK IN A STRAIGHT LINE THROUGH A COATING SPRAY.
