Abstract

Abstract Textile fibers which have been de-sized and scoured are bleached with an alkaline aqueous solution containing a peroxy compound and an alkali metal silicate and a ''''stabilizer'''' for (1) reducing the decomposition of said peroxy compound and (2) preventing silicate deposition, and which is, for example, a combination of nitrilotriacetic acid, 1-hydroxy ethylidene-1,1diphosphonic acid, and a magnesium or calcium salt, e.g., magnesium sulfate.
