Abstract
Abstract A simple means of detecting a straight line or edge using noncoherent optical techniques. An object is imaged onto a rotating film loop by a lens. The film loop has a number of parallel, equally spaced bars. When a straight line is detected which is parallel to the bars on the rotating film, its presence is indicated by a large signal being emitted by a photodetector.
