Abstract

Abstract An integrated anti-wheel lock control valve assembly and wheel speed signal responsive computer for selectively connecting an outlet passage to a source of fluid under pressure or to exhaust, the action of the valve being controlled by regulation of the fluid pressure in a control chamber selectively vented or connected to a source of fluid under pressure by a solenoid operated control valve actuated under control of the computer in such valve assembly.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 147 words
A self-contained brake pressure modulating valve assembly for vehicle anti-lock brake control systems comprising a valve body structure, an electronic computer enclosed within said structure and adapted to receive and process wheel speed indicative electrical signals to produce an electrical output signal upon detection of changes in wheel speed indicative of incipient wheel lock, a valve in said structure having a fluid inlet adapted to be connected to a fluid pressure source and a fluid outlet adapted to be connected to at least one fluid actuated brake, actuating means for said valve normally operative in response to vehicle operator generated brake apply signals to actuate said valve to deliver to said outlet a fluid pressure proportional to the magnitude of an applied vehicle operator generated brake apply signal, and means responsive to said electrical output signal for modulating the effect of the vehicle operator generated brake signal.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 147 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 47 words
The valve assembly defined in claim 1 wherein said brake apply signal is a fluid pressure signal, wherein said actuating means is fluid pressure responsive, and wherein said output signal responsive means is a solenoid actuated valve interposed in the fluid conduit to said valve actuating means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 14 words
The valve assembly defined in claim 1 wherein said computer is a digital computer.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 18 words
The valve assembly defined in claim 3 wherein the computation portion of said computer is an integrated circuit.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 17 words
The valve assembly defined in claim 4 wherein said integrated circuit is embodied in a MOS chip.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 19 words
The valve assembly defined in claim 1 wherein said computer is instantaneously operative upon the application of power thereto.
