Abstract

Abstract The disclosure embraces a method of and an arrangement for reducing or substantially restricting delivery of fuel into the induction system or fuel and air mixing passage of a carburetor or charge forming apparatus upon rebound or reversal of direction of flow of the mixture momentarily occurring at the periods of the closing of the mixture inlet port or ports of an internal combustion engine by reducing mixture rebound velocity and increasing the pressure adjacent the zone of delivery of fuel into the mixing passage thereby preventing appreciable enrichment of the fuel and air mixture during said rebound periods.

Claim 54
Dependent Claim 18 words
The combination according to claim 34 wherein said tubular member has a cap portion at its end region.
Claim 55
Dependent Claim 33 words
The combination according to claim 34 wherein the wall region of the tubular member upstream of the mixing passage has an opening for admitting air for aerating the fuel in the tubular member.
Claim 56
Dependent Claim 18 words
The combination according to claim 35 including a vent opening in the cap portion of the tubular member.
Claim 57
Dependent Claim 180 words
Charge forming apparatus including, in combination, a body construction provided with a mixing passage and a fuel chamber, a fuel inlet for the body construction, valve means for the fuel inlet, control means for said valve means for regulating fuel flow from a supply into the fuel chamber, an orifice opening into the mixing passage for delivering fuel under the influence of engine aspiration from the fuel chamber into the mixing passage, a throttle valve in the mixing passage for controlling flow of fuel and air mixture, the mixing passage including a Venturi configuration, tubular means disposed in the body at the region of the Venturi, said tubular means providing a chamber in which fuel is delivered from the fuel delivery orifice, the chamber having an outlet downstream of the mixing passage for delivery of fuel from the chamber provided by the tubular member into the mixing passage, said tubular means having a transverse wall upstream of the mixing passage, and a plurality of sapced openings in the transverse wall for admitting air into the chamber for aerating fuel therein.
Claim 58
