Abstract THE NOVEL RUBBER COMPOUND AND TIRE TREAD MADE THEREFROM INCLUDE A SILICA-FILLED UNSATURATED RUBBER COMPOUND AND A REACTIVE OLEFINIC COUPLING AGENT SUCH AS 5-TRIETHOXYSILYL NORBORNENE. THE COUPLING AGENT IS A COMPOUND WHICH FORMS A BOND OR CONNECTION BETWEEN THE RUBBER POLYMER AND THE SILICA.
