Abstract THIS INVENTION IS BASED ON THE DISCOVERY THAT AN EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD THICKENING EFFECT IS OBTAINED IN PIGMENTED COATING COMPOSITIONS, INCLUDING WATER-BASE PAINTS, THE BINDER OF WHICH IS A POLYMER OF PREDOMINANTLY SACRYLIC ESTER TYPE, BY THE USE OF A WATER-SOLUBLE COPOLYMER OF NVINYLPYRROLIDONE (55-95%) AND ETHYL ACRYLATE (45-5%).
