Abstract

Abstract A process for copolymerization of a conjugated diolefin with a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon by a lithium type initiator in the presence of a randomizer selected from anionic surface active compounds having a hydrophilic group represented by -SO3M or OSO3M where M is Na or K, in 1 - 20 parts by weight of a hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon solvent per 1 part by weight of the monomers, which comprises initiating the polymerization reaction at 20*C. - 90*C. and polymerizing substantially all monomers at the maximum temperature below 150*C. without removal of polymerization heat.
